Volunteer Response Form

There are many different ways to support the efforts of First Book-Charlotte in our communities.  In hundreds of communities across the country, First Book volunteers are helping to bring the magic of books to children in need. First Book believes that local individuals can best identify the strengths and needs of their communities. First Book Advisory Boards are committees of volunteers, representing a community or campus, that come together to raise awareness and funds in order to provide new books to local literacy programs serving children from low-income families.

Volunteer

• Join Your Local Advisory Board 
  Work at the local level to fundraise and award book grants to programs serving children in your community.
• Volunteer at a book distribution
  Help us ship and distribute books from warehouse locations across the country.
• Visit the Literacy Site
  Visit the site daily and click for free to fund new books for kids.

Donate

• Donate to First Book
  Every $2.00 donation buys a new book for a child in need.
• First Book GiftCards
  For folks young and old on your holiday list comes a holiday sentiment that simply can’t miss. Share the magic of books by sending someone a Book Giving giftcard
• Turn old books into new books
  Learn how the proceeds of your used books can fund new books for kids in need.

Fundraise

• Start a Books for Kids, Books for Keeps fundraising page
  Invite friends and family to join you in raising funds to place brand new books into the hands of children who need them.
• Kick off a Speed Read
  A First Book Speed Read is a playful fundraising event with a tangible impact.

Opportunities for Companies & Organizations

• Become a First Book Partner
  We work closely with our network of corporate and nonprofit partners to develop new ways to use private sector strategies for the public good.
• Become a Publishing Partner
  By making large-scale donations to the First Book National Book Bank, publishing companies save the cost of multiple book shipments to fulfill donation requests and can refer organizations requesting book donations to the FBNBB.
• Donate warehouse space
  We have an ongoing need for warehouse facilities that can accept drop-shipments and deliveries of new books.
