Receive Books

Your program may be eligible to receive books through:

First Book Advisory Boards
First Book Advisory Board volunteers fundraise in their communities to provide grants of new books to local programs that serve children from low-income families.
First Book Marketplace
The First Book Marketplace is an online store offering programs serving children from low-income families the ability to purchase award-winning books at greatly reduced prices.
First Book National Book Bank
The First Book National Book Bank distributes brand-new books, donated by publishers, free of charge to programs serving children from low-income families, or for a minimal shipping fee

The primary goal of First Book is to work with existing community literacy programs to distribute new books to children who, for economic reasons, have little or no access to books. First Book does not provide direct financial support, nor does it provide books to individuals, families, or book drives. Programs interested in receiving books from First Book Advisory Boards must:

Register with First Book and gain access to award-winning new books for free and to deeply discounted new books and educational materials.

  1. fully cooperate in an area served by a First Book Advisory Board   

  2. complete a First Book Grant Application

  3. submit the application to a First Book Advisory Board                     

  4. meet the eligibility requirements
